In oktober liet ik hier mijn aankopen van de Brei en haakdagen in Zwolle zien. Met daarbij ook het boekje Springtime van Marie Wallin. Haar breiontwerpen vind ik heel erg mooi. En deze week ben ik begonnen aan één van haar ontwerpen. Nog niet uit het patronen boekje, maar een model uit een Verena tijdschrift, herfst 2013. 

Last October I showed the purchases I did at the Knitting and Crochetday in Zwolle. That picture also had the Springtime book by Marie Wallin. I really like her designs. The past week I started one of her patterns. Not from the book yet, but one published in a Verena magazine dated autumn 2013. 

Voor dit model kocht ik laatst het Drops alpaca garen. De trui van Karisma voor Fouchienus is meest klaar. Daarvan ligt de tweede mouw momenteel te drogen tussen handdoeken. Deze week kan ik daarmee beginnen met in elkaar zetten. Daar bij ga ik zien hoe het gaat bevallen om een trui met een stiksteek in elkaar te zetten. 

I will make this jumper with Drops alpaca yarn. The jumper I was knitting for my husband Fouchienus has the knitting part done. The second sleeve is being blocked at the moment. Next week I can start sewing it together using backstitch. I have never done that, we will see how that goes. 

Voor deze trui heb ik eerst een uitgebreide proeflap gemaakt. Waar ik heel blij mee ben, want nu bleek dat de combinatie van kleuren die ik bedacht had niet zo mooi uit kwam. Daarbij bleken er ook fouten te zitten in het telpatroon van het tijdschrift. Er kwamen wat dingen tenminste niet overeen met de foto. De afgelopen week heb ik nog wat vervangende kleurtjes besteld. Een tweede punt was het aranpatroon. Volgens het Verena patroon moest je de kruisende steken kabelen, daarbij recht over averecht. De teruggaande naald moesten de steken gebreid worden zoals ze zich voordeden op de naald. Dit heb ik gedaan in het eerste deel van het aranpatroon. Maar dit vind ik heel erg rommelig eruit zien. Niet zoals op de foto's en ook niet zoals ik een aranpatroon zie in het Springtime boekje. Daar worden de kruisende steken zonder kabelnaald gemaakt en zonder die averechte steken. Het aranpatroon heb ik daarom net als het fair isle deel in een ruitjes schrift uitgetekend. 

Before starting knitting the jumper I made a big swatch. And I am very glad I did this. Because I found out the colour combination didn't work for me. And it showed mistakes in the printed pattern, compared to the photo of the model. The past week I ordered some new colours. I guess that is part of buying from the screen. A second thing I found out was a problem with the Aran pattern. According to the symbolchart one had to work the crossing stitches with a cable needle and cable knit stitches over purl stitches. In the wrongside needle stitches had to be worked as the appeared on the needle. I did this in the first part of the swatch, but I didn't like it. I worked the second part like Marie says in the Springtime book. There the crossing stitches are made without the cableneedle and the purl stitches. I have drawn the aran pattern again on paper as I have done the fair isle part. 

Zover ben ik nu. Het eerste deel Fair isle is klaar. Ik heb als verdere aanpassing nog enkele extra naalden tussengevoegd, omdat ik anders niet aan de 13 cm hoogte voor dit patroondeel kwam. 

This is how far I have knitted. The first Fair isle part is done and I am happy with these colours. I did ad some extra rows, because otherwise it would not be 13 cm in height. The stitchcount is perfect but the row count is a bit of with this yarn. 

Tot slot nog een grappige Guus en Lemmy foto. Met zijn tweetjes in de hangmand. Dat ding is nogal krap omdat het frame tussen de verwarmingsribben verdwijnt. Maar wanneer je als poes koud bent moet je wat. 

To end this blog a funny Guus and Lemmy picture. The two of them together in this thing. It is rather small because the frame disappears in between the heating. But a cold kitty has to lay somewhere where there is warmth.
