Vorige weekend werd voortdurend sneeuw aangekondigd, voor zondagavond en maandag. Nu bleef ik daar aardig rustig onder, want de laatste jaren viel er wel vaker sneeuw in de rest van het land terwijl hier helemaal niks kwam. Maar maandagmorgen lag er wel een mooie laag sneeuw. In plaats van na de afwas verder te gaan met huishoudelijke dingen ben ik spullen bij elkaar gaan pakken voor sneeuwverven. Stof had ik al eens gekocht bij de Ikea. Verf had ik nog, bloempotten stonden in mijn naaikamer en yoghurtemmertjes waren in de kelder verzameld. Moest ik alleen nog zout en soda. Daarvoor maar op de fiets gestapt. Even later kon de stof in de emmer met soda/zoutoplossing. 

Last weekend the weather forecast predicted snow on Sundayevening and Monday. I stayed cool because in the past years there was snow in the rest of the country before while we had rain. But on Mondaymorning we had a nice snowcover. Instead of doing things in the house after I had done the dishes I collected the things I needed to snowpaint. I had bought white fabric at Ikea last summer. There was paint. Flowerpots were in my sewingroom en plasticyoghurtbuckets were in the basement. I only needed salt and soda. I went on my bike to get those from the shop. A while later the fabric could soak in the salt/soda solution. 

Na nog een zoektocht naar de juiste maat bloempotten kon ik vier setjes maken om te verven. De twee meter stof die ik had heb ik verdeeld in 8 lappen. 

After a search for the rightsize flowerpot I could make four sets ready to paint. I had two metres of fabric and I devided it in 8 pieces.

In de emmertjes zit een lap stof, op de emmer staat de bloempot met daar onderin een tweede lap stof. Daarboven op stevig aangedrukte sneeuw. Daarna kwam het lastigste, de verfpoeder over de sneeuw strooien. En dat met rubberhandschoenen aan en en mondkapje voor. Over de verfpoeder kwam nog weer een laagje sneeuw. 

In the buckets is a piece of fabric, on the bucket the flowerpot with in there another piece of fabric. That fabric gets covered in snow. And the difficult job of getting the paintpowder on the snow while wearing rubbergloves and mouthcover. The paint got covered with another layer of snow. 

Om een uur of elf stond dit op de vensterbank. Vier sets, rood/geel, rood/blauw, blauw/geel en rood/blauw/geel. 

At eleven o'clock this was on the windowsill. Four sets, red/yellow, red/blue, blue/yellow and red/yellow/blue. 

Na het avondeten was alle sneeuw gesmolten en heb ik de lappen overgedaan in plasticzakken. 

After dinner all the snow had  melted and I put the pieces of fabric in plasticbags.
